Wycombe Wanderers boss: Pleased to have El-Abd at the club
Wycombe Wanderers boss Gareth Ainsworth stated that he is pleased to have former Shrewsbury defender Adam El-Abd in his team.
El-Abd joined Wycombe Wanderers on a free transfer after rescinding his contract with League One side Shewsbury Town. The Egypt international scored two goals last season for his side in the English second division.
“We were hoping to make some signings before the season opener. Our first signing this summer, Adam El-Abd, was brought in because he was one of the toughest opponents I ever played against,” Ainsworth said.
The 44-year-old manager, who retired from football in 2014 having spent the last four years of his career with The Chairboys, described the difficulty of playing against El-Abd.
“I remember when I was at QPR, I came off the pitch thinking ‘that was a real struggle’ and it was all down to Adam, who was the opponents’ left-back. I am really pleased to get someone with his character into the football club.”
