Mohamed Elneny expressed his pleasure on both his team’s Community Shield win and his performance over the match, which was settled through a penalty shootout.

The Egyptian midfielder featured for the entire 90 minutes and drew a red card that saw Chelsea finish with 10 men. The Community Shield is the traditional curtain raiser of the English Premier League season.

Elneny believes the win will give Arsenal a great push forward ahead of the 2017/18 Premier League season. “Winning the game will give us such a great push forward before the start of the new season. It will help us to start it in the best possible way, especially as we are waiting for a new hard season,” Elneny told Arsenal official website.

“We had the motivation to win the game against the league winners – Chelsea – and especially almost a week before the start of the league, which will help us a lot. This is a tremendous push for our team to look better and play better on and off the pitch.”

The Egypt international, further, spoke about his display on the day. “I am giving all that I have on the field for the team thanks to God and to the support I have from the coach and my team-mates. I am 100 per cent concentrated and I’ll give my best to the team day after day.”

The 25-year-old midfielder, who joined Arsenal from Basel in January 2016, also dismissed claims he could be leaving Arsenal this summer following his sides’ Community Shield win.

The Gunners kick off their league campaign with a home clash against Leicester City on 11 August.
