Mohamed Elneny denies Arsenal exit rumours
Egypt international Mohamed Elneny has dismissed claims he could be leaving Arsenal this summer following his side’s Community Shield win.
The Gunners defeated Chelsea 4-1 on penalties to lift the 2017 FA Community Shield and the Egyptian midfielder is delighted with Arsenal’s first trophy of the season.
Today, the Egyptian was very impressive going forward, he controlled the midfield and nearly scored as well. He also drew a red card when he was cleated in the Achilles by Pedro.
“Winning the Community Shield gives us momentum ahead of the new season. We [players] talked about the importance of winning this game,” Elneny told beIN SPORTS.
“There has been a lot of criticism recently and I wanted to prove that I deserve to play for a big team like Arsenal. That was my best game for Arsenal,” he added.
The Egyptian has dismissed claims he could be leaving Arsenal this summer, saying: “I am staying at Arsenal this season.”
Arsenal initially signed Elneny from Basel for £5m in January 2016, and the Egyptian has been linked with a move to Premier League side Leicester City and Turkey giants Galatasaray.
The 25-year-old has made 41 appearances for the Gunners since his arrival, many of which have come as a substitute or cup game starts.
