Al Ahly agree loan deal with Bidvest Wits for Amr Gamal

Al Ahly agree loan deal with Bidvest Wits for Amr Gamal
Al Ahly forward Amr Gamal is set to join South African side Bidvest Wits on loan, the Reds have confirmed on Saturday.

KingFut had previously revealed that Bidvest Wits are keen on signing the striker this summer and the Reds have given him permission to go on loan to the South African champions. Gamal will join the South African side on loan for a fee of $200,000.

The 26-year-old has found regular football hard to come by as he was stuck behind Junior Ajayi and Souleymane Coulibaly last season and the Reds have agreed to loan him out after the arrival of Morocco international Walid Azarou.

Gamal made 23 appearances across all competitions last team, scoring six goals, however, he impressed for the Reds against the South African side when they met last March.

“Al Ahly have the best players ever. Amr Gamal and Ahmed Hegazy were the best,” Bidvest Wits’ coach Gavin Hunt said following his side’s goalless draw with Al Ahly at Johannesburg in the CAF Champions League.

The Egypt international will travel to South Africa to join his new team-mates after the Egypt Cup final next Tuesday when Al Ahly take on rivals Al Masry.

Amr was promoted from Al Ahly youth team in 2013 and he went on to make over 100 appearances for the club, scoring 29 goals. He helped the Reds lift three Premier League titles, two Egyptian Super Cups, the 2013 African Champions League, the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 as well as two CAF Super Cups in 2013 and 2014.

Wits finished the 2016/17 South African Premier League as champions after collecting 60 points, three more than Africa Champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
