Ahmed Hegazi kicked-off his Premier league campaign with a MOTM performance and a goal, helping West Brom to a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.

West Bromwich Albion: Foster, Nyom, Dawson, Hegazi, Brunt, Yacob, M.Phillips, Field, Livermore, McClean, Rodriguez.

AFC Bournemouth: Begovic, Francis, Cook, Ake, Daniels, Pugh, Arter, Surman, Fraser, King, Afobe.

The Egyptian was named man of the match after scoring his side’s only goal of the game and helping them keep a clean sheet in their 1-0 home win over Bournemouth.

The Baggies had a superb first half after starting the game with their usual 4-1-4-1 formation which allows Tony Pulis’ men to control the game without having too much time on the ball.

On the other hand, Eddie Howe’s side had 60% of the possession in the first-half, but with no real threat on West Brom’s back-line. Despite of only having 40% of the possession, the Baggies had nine attempts, four on goal, including Hegazi’s debut goal.

The Egyptian scored on his debut with a trademark header after a brilliant free-kick cross from the edge of the area which found the Egyptian, who smashed it into the back of the net 30 minutes into the game.

Bournemouth then tried to push hard to equalize before the half-time whistle, but Foster had the upper hand by saving two crucial chances from both Joshua King and Afobe.

Eddie Howe’s side looked helpless in the second period of the game after a brilliant defensive display from West Brom who knew exactly how to stop the Cherries’ attacking solutions in King, Afobe and Defoe.

The Baggies were as organized in defense as they were in the final third, as they were able to add four more attempts throughout the second-half but were unlucky not to hit the target.

15 minutes before the final whistle, Eddie Howe gambled everything he had and played with only two defenders at the back in an attempt to grab a late equalizer, but unfortunately for him it was a game to forget for the Cherries.

West Brom’s next Premier League game will be up against Burnley, who defeated Chelsea in their opening game of the season, on Saturday, August 19 at Turf Moor.
