Kahraba on target as Al Ittihad fall against Al Batin
Mahmoud Kahraba scored Al-Ittihad’s only goal of the game as they were stunned by a 3-1 home defeat against Al Batin in the league opener.
Ittihad were off to a poor start in the Saudi Premier League as the defeat marked a historic result for Al Batin who managed to get their first victory ever over the Saudi giants.
Ittihad had a firing start to the first half but Kahraba and Fahad Al-Muwallad failed to capitalise on the several chances that came their way.
In the eighth minute and against the run of play, Al Batin punished Al Ittihad and took the lead through Edison Tarabai.
The hosts intensified pressure trying to level the game but Al Batin goalkeeper Mazyad Freeh was the stumbling block against all their attempts in the remainder of the first half.
The Brazilian forward completed his brace and doubled Al Batin’s lead with a glancing header in the 68th minute.
Two minutes from time, Kahraba scored a late consolation goal for Jose Luis Sierra’s men.

However, Jorge Silva killed any hope for an Al-Ittihad comeback after adding the third goal one minute later.
