OFFICIAL: Mahmoud Alaa joins Zamalek from Wadi Degla
Zamalek have completed the signing of Wadi Degla defender Mahmoud Alaa, the Whites have announced on Saturday.
The 26-year-old has completed the transfer one week after extending his contract with Wadi Degla and he agreed to join the Whites on a five-year deal.
Zamalek have strengthened their defensive options by signing Alaa as he will become the club’s fifth centre-back alongside Ali Gabr, Mohamed Koffi, El-Wensh and Mohamed Magdy.
He joined Wadi Degla from Haras El-Hodood in 2015 and made 57 appearances for them across all competitions, scoring 10 goals.
He made 31 appearances last term and scored five goals as Degla finished 12th in the league table and were knocked out of the Egypt Cup quarters.
In his first season at Degla, he helped them finish fifth in the league table, only one point behind Smouha and Al Masry, who finished third and fourth respectively.
Alaa has also represented the Egyptian national team four times but his last appearance came in 2012 against Oman in a friendly. He was part of the U-23 national team, who competed at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.
