Mortada reveals players to leave Zamalek
Zamalek President Mortada Mansour announced the team’s departure list for players who will be leaving the White Castle before the start of the new season.
Mortada revealed the list in a press conference held at the club on Saturday. The list included Salah Rico, Eslam Gamal, Shawky El-Said, Ibrahim Salah, Ali Fathy, Mohamed Nassef, Osama Ibrahim, Mohamed Mosaad and Zambian Emmanuel Mayuka.
Emmanuel Mayuka’s deal with Zamalek ran until June 2019, but he has found regular football hard to come by and has agreed to terminate his contract after 37 appearances for the Whites scoring seven goals.
The chairman replied criticism regarding the departure of Mayuka by pointing out that the player had signed a paper to receive all his financial dues, to acknowledge his departure by friendly means and had no right to file any complaints against Zamalek in the future.
As for team star Shikabala, Mortada said that the player asked to leave and discussed offers from Wadi Degla and Al Masry. “No player will leave for free,” the chairman added.
Zamalek are currently hiring a new head coach to replace Portuguese coach Augusto Inacio who was sacked earlier. The club ended their season empty-handed after they were eliminated from the group stage of the CAF Champions League and the Arab Club Championship.
They also finished third in the Egyptian Premier League standings, and were most recently knocked out of the Egypt Cup after losing 2-0 to Al Masry in the semi-final on Tuesday.
