Zamalek confirm Rico’s departure to Misr El-Maqassa
Salah Rico is set to join Misr El-Maqassa this summer for an undisclosed fee, Zamalek’s president Mortada Mansour has confirmed.
The 26-year-old only joined the Whites last summer after making switch from Ittihad El-Shorta, but he struggled to nail down a starting place and agreed to join the Premier League runners-up.
Rico featured 17 times during his short stay with Zamalek, playing three games in the African Champions League, 13 in the league and once in the cup, scoring only once in the league.
He was included in Zamalek’s departure list, which was released on Saturday, alongside Islam Gamal, Shawky El-Said, Ibrahim Salah, Ali Fathy, Mohamed Nassef, Osama Ibrahim, Mohamed Mosaad and Emmanuel Mayuka.
Misr El-Maqassa are looking to strengthen their squad after qualifying to the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history and Rico could be the perfect replacement for Hesham Mohamed, who joined Al Ahly this summer.
Rico becomes the club’s third arrival of the summer following deals for Mohamed Sobhy from Ismaily and Zambia’s Edward Chilufya.
