Egypt to host Arabian Gulf Super Cup

The Arabian Gulf Super Cup between Arabian Gulf league winners Al Jazira and President Cup champions Al Wahda will be hosted by Egypt in September.

This won’t be the first time that Egypt host the UAE Super Cup, as last season’s version also took place in Cairo where Dubai-based club overcame with a 2-1 victory.

The match up between Al Jazira and Al Wahda will be held on September 15, the UAE Pro League Committee (PLC) have announced on Monday.

“The PLC aims to achieve several objectives by holding the Arabian Gulf Super Cup outside the country, expanding the fan base of UAE football abroad,” Pro League Committee acting CEO Waleed Al Hosani said.

“This provides a platform for UAE teams and players to showcase their skills abroad and reflect the progress of UAE football. These matches also contribute to attracting larger numbers of football fans in Egypt to learn more about UAE football and follow the PLC competitions.”
