Svein Oddvar Moen appointed Egypt Cup final referee
Norwegian referee Svein Oddvar Moen has been appointed to officiate the Egypt Cup final between Al Ahly and Al Masry next Tuesday.
Al Masry will face Al Ahly in Egypt Cup final, hoping to win their first trophy since 1998, when they defeated Arab Contractors 4-3 in the Cup final, while the Red Devils will attempt to win their first Egypt Cup title in 10 years as their last Cup triumph came in 2007 against arch-rivals Zamalek.
The 37-year-old will be assisted by his compatriots Kim Thomas and Magnus Lindberg, while the fourth official will be Egypt’s Badwy Hemida.
Moen took up refereeing in 1995 and became a FIFA referee in 2005, officiating at the 2016 Euro, UEFA Champions League, and at the 2012 Olympics football tournament.
The Norwegian referee took charge of the Cairo Derby last season, when the Red Devils drew 0-0 with Zamalek in the final round of the Egyptian Premier League.
It’s worth mentioning that Egypt Cup final is set to be played on Tuesday, August 15 at 20:00 CLT at Borg El-Arab stadium, Alexandria.
