OFFICIAL: Zamalek sign Syria international Alaa Al Shbli on free transfer
The 27-year-old has joined the Whites on a free transfer after his deal at Iraqi side Naft Al-Wasat expired and has has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2020.
Al Shbli will likely be loaned out as Zamalek have already signed two Syrian players, Khaled Al Mobayed and Moayad Ajan, and the new EFA rule allows each team to register up to only two Palestinian/Syrian players as domestic players.
The Syrian international, who can play as right-back and defensive midfielder, becomes the third right-back in Zamalek’s squad alongside Hazem Emam, Hosny Fathi and Osama Ibrahim, who was included in the club’s departure list.
The list also included Salah Rico, Eslam Gamal, Shawky El-Said, Ibrahim Salah, Ali Fathy, Mohamed Nassef, Mohamed Mosaad and Emmanuel Mayuka.
