Al Masry chairman satisfied despite Egypt Cup final loss
Al Masry chairman Samir Halabia praised his players despite falling to a 2-1 defeat against Al Ahly in they dying minutes of the Egypt Cup final.
The Port Said-based club was five minutes away from lifting the trophy for the first time since 1999 when the Red Devils made a strong comeback and scored two goals in the final minutes of extra time to clinch the trophy.
Halabia expressed his pride in the quality of football Al Masry played during the match and in the past two seasons under the leadership of Egypt’s legendary footballer Hossam Hassan. The chairman praised his player’s high spirits and motives despite the game’s difficulty.
Besides eliminating Zamalek to reach the Egypt Cup final, Hassan had guided the club to a fourth-place finish in the 2016/17 Egypt Premier League season.
Al Masry board decided to grant players who took part in the final match an EGP 20,000 bonus as a gesture of appreciation for their efforts.
