Smouha: Mahmoud Ezzat not for sale
Egyptian Premier League club Smouha SC have declared that senior team central defender Mahmoud Ezzat will not be leaving the club.
Ezzat has been heavily linked with a switch to Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup champions Al Ahly, who have been looking for a replacement for Egypt international Ahmed Hegazi after his departure to West Bromwich Albion on loan.
Despite Hossam El-Badry’s statements about being close to capturing Smouha’s 25-year-old defender, the Alexandria-based club came out to deny all these claims.
“We have received plenty of messages inquiring about Mahmoud Ezzat and others attacking us for the sale of Ezzat, therefore we felt the urgency of noting that the player is not for sale and won’t be sold,” Smouha said.
“The club confirms that it is not responsible for the circulating statements. The player is, anyway, staying at Smouha and there is no intention to sell him to any local or foreign club.”
