Hossam Ghaly: Al Nassr captaincy is big responsibility
Al Nassr KSA latest signing Hossam Ghaly has discussed his return to the club and expressed his feelings about wearing the team’s captain armband.
It was confirmed that Ghaly completed a move to Al Nassr on a Bosman for one year, despite the player agreeing to a new deal with Al Ahly.
“I was keen on bidding farewell to Al Ahly fans by winning Egypt Cup, and just like I am happy to achieve this title with Al Ahly I am also passionate to play for Al Nassr and winning trophies with the club, God willing,” Ghaly told arreyadi.com.
“I ended my career at Al Ahly with a historic season after we won the domestic double for the first time in years. The current generation is capable of winning the CAF Champions League to complete the delight of the Red Devils fans. I hope that I was up to the standards until the last moment.”
The former Egypt international had a previous stint at the Saudi Arabian side as he represented them for the 2009/10 season.
“My experience this time presents an important step in my footballing career. I am fully fit to play a season full of achievements with Al Nassr which possess a collection of the Saudi national team stars and also foreign players. The current group have the ability to win trophies.”
The former Al Ahly skipper, who was named Al Nassr captain, said that he should be judged by his effort not his age, adding that he was named Al Ahly’s player of the month just before completing his move to Al Nassr.
“I should be judged by my effort on the pitch and not my age. Negotiations were carried on in a very professional manner. I have no hard feelings against anyone, my first spell here at the club ended with its positives and negatives and I only hold the good memories from it.”
