OFFICIAL: Boateng joins Eintracht Frankfurt on free transfer
Kevin-Prince Boateng has joined Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt following the termination of his contract with Spanish side Las Palmas.
The Ghanaian has put pen to paper on a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2020 after he terminated his contract with Las Palmas for personal reasons.
The 30-year-old only joined the Spanish side last summer after making switch from AC Milan. He scored 10 league goals and assisted further five as they finished 14th in the table.
“Prince will give this team a tremendous amount, and it will bring superior footballing qualities,” Eintracht Frankfurt new manager Niko Kovac said.
‘Especially our young players can benefit a lot from him. Kevin-Prince will be a leader for the team.
‘I am very satisfied with our squad, and we have an interesting season ahead, and we will play a good role, he added.
Frankfurt will become the fourth German club Boateng has joined as he represented Hertha Berlin, Borussia Dortmund and FC Schalke 04.
“I missed Germany. I am really looking forward to an exciting fight this season – the league is as balanced as never before. I’m going to meet my new colleagues, join them for the eagle on our bosom, and fight for our points,” Boateng said.
Frankfurt’s opening game of the season will be against SC Freiburg on Sunday, August 20, and the Ghanaian could make his debut against them.
