CAF name referees for Al Ahly-Esperance clash in CL quarter-final


Two accomplished referees from Senegal and Cameroon will be in charge of the two quarter-final ties between and .

The Cairo giants who are seeking to win their first Champions League title since 2013 will face Tunisia’s Espérance Sportive in the competition’s quarter-final.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have announced that Senegalese will oversee the first leg of the quarter-final, which is set to be played at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria. Diédhiou was the referee when Egypt played Uganda on both teams’ return to the Africa Cup of Nations.


Cameroonian will be in charge of the second leg in Rades. The 35-year-old has refereed both the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup finals, in 2011 and 2015 respectively.

The first leg is scheduled for September 16 while the second leg will take place on September 23. Al Ahly are Egypt’s only remaining representitive in the competition.
