Salah features as Mane hands Liverpool first league win of the season
Liverpool hosted Crystal Palace for their first home game of the season as Christian Benteke was looking forward to face his former teammates.
Mohamed Salah was among five changes in Liverpool’s starting lineup that faced Watford last week which made the Reds enter the game looking harmless.
The first-half did not witness a lot of chances, as Simon Mignolet made one crucial save from a Jason Puncheon strike, while Wayne Hennessey stopped the efforts of Roberto Firmino from outside the box.
As the second half kicked-off, Firmino fired another shot that went wide, before ex-Liverpool striker Christian Benteke missed a sitter in the 55th minute after a superb work from Loftus-Cheek.
Mohamed Salah and Dominic Solanke replaced Daniel Sturridge and Georginio Wijnaldum in the 60th minute, making Liverpool more dynamic and deadly.
In the 73rd minute, Solanke seized the ball from Luka Milivojevic to give speedster Mane the space to bag the only goal of the game.
Goalkeeper Hennessey denied Salah of making it 2-0 on two occasions, a header and a beautiful curling effort, finishing the game 1-0 to the Reds.
Liverpool will host Hoffenheim this Wednesday in the Champions League qualifying rounds with a draw will be enough for the Reds to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
