Women’s Afrobasket: Egypt beat Guinea to top group B

’s women national team have defeated  in their second game of the 2017 Women’s on Saturday.

The Pharaohs were able to win their opening game against DR Congo 99-72 and today they have beat Guinea 109-78 to make it two wins from two.

Egypt were drawn in group B alongside holders Senegal, Nigeria, Guinea, DR Congo and Mozambique, with the top four teams qualify for the quarterfinals.

The first-quarter finished 21-11 to Egypt, before the Egyptians won the second and third quarters 31-23 and 24-19 respectively. The Pharaoh managed to win the fourth-quarter 109-78 and topped group B after winning their first two games.

Menatalla Awad was Egypt’s best performer after finishing the game with 20 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Egypt’s next game will be against Nigeria on Sunday, August 20. They will then face Senegal and Mozambique on the 22nd and 23rd of August respectively.

The 2017 Women’s Afrobasket is being held in Mali from 18 to 27 August. The winners and runners-up will be qualified for the 2018 Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will be held in Spain in September 2018.
