PHOTO: Zamalek in talks to sign Youssef Kalfa from Al Nasr
The Syrian players have been in demand after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) have recently passed a rule that allows each team to register up to two Palestinian/Syrian players as domestic players.
Zamalek have already brought in two Syrian players, Alaa Al Shbli and Moayed Ajan, which mean they have to loan at least one of them out if they want to sign Kalfa.
The 24-year-old, who can play as an attacking midfielder, only joined the Kuwaiti side this summer after making switch from Syrian side Al Jaish.
If a deal can be struck, Kalfa would become Zamalek’s 15th summer signing after deals for Kasongo, Daouda, Salah Ashour, Acheampong, Madbouli, Ahmed Magdi, Razak Cisse, Mahmoud Alaa, Mohamed Ramadan, Alaa Al Shbli, ENPPI duo El-Shamy and Gomaa, Kaboria and Moayed Ajan.
Kalfa made his international debut against Tajikistan in August 2016 and helped his former club Al Jaish lift the Syrian league title in 2016.
