Amr Gamal Al Ahly

Egypt’s expressed his excitement regarding his move to South African outfit on a one-year loan deal from Al Ahly.

After ongoing negotiations with the Red Devils, the Clever Boys unveiled Gamal officially during a press conference on Tuesday announcing the loan deal.

The striker who will be competing with names like James Keene, Gabadinho Mhango and Eleazar Rodgers for a starting spot in the lineup was highly praised by the team’s coach Gavin Hunt during the press conference.

“I’m happy to be here at Wits and in South Africa. I thank Mr. Jose and the coach for the work that they did for me to come from Al Ahly to here‚” said the 26-year-old striker. “The league here is very strong and they play modern football‚ and this will help me to develop more at a big club like Wits.”

“Wits should be playing in the semi-final or final of the Champions League, that is how good they are. It was unfortunate to meet them in the competition so early playoff to get into the group stages,” said the first Egyptian to play in the South African league.

“I think South Africa is the best place for me to progress in my career. I had offers from clubs abroad as well, but I turned them down to come to this league,” he concluded.
