Women’s Afrobasket: Egypt beat Mozambique, reach quarter-final
The Pharaohs had already booked their ticket to the quarter-finals in the last round despite falling to a 61-93 defeat against Senegal. Following their victory over Mozambique, the Pharaohs secured a third-place group stage finish after collecting eight points.
Egypt had previously managed to secure victories over DR Congo and Guinea before losing two consecutive matches against Nigeria and Senegal. They’ll now face hosts Mali in the quarter-final.
The 2017 Women’s Afrobasket is held in Mali from 18 to 27 August. The winners and runners-up of the tournament’s 23rd edition will qualify for the 2018 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, which will be held in Spain in September 2018.
