completed the signing of former Zamalek players Hamada Tolba and youngster Mohamed Khalifa as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The Assiut-based side secured promotion to the Egyptian Premier League for the second time in their history. They were so close to getting promoted last season but suffered a defeat to Nasr Lel Taa’deen in a decisive game that made the latter secure the promotion instead.

Former Zamalek defender Hamada Tolba signed a two-year contract on a free transfer move to join the newly promoted club from ENPPI. Tolba began his career with Smouha then Misr El-Maqassa before joining Zamalek, who he went on to make over than 80 appearances for them, helping the White Knights win the domestic double in 2015.

He later joined Al Masry but found regular football hard to come by as he only made eight appearances for them so he moved to ENPPI in January 2017.

Assiouty’s board also managed to sign former Egypt’s U-20 Mohamed Khalifa from Portuguese outfit Leixões on a one-year loan deal with an option to buy to bolster the team’s squad.

Khalifa is a product of Zamalek youth sector and was promoted to the first team in 2014. The midfielder then joined Suez-based Petrojet before moving to Portugal to play for Leixões.
