Tunisia’s Aymen Abdennour joins Marseille on loan
The 28-year-old, who has previously played in the French top flight for Toulouse and Monaco, returns to Ligue 1 after spending two seasons in Spain to become Marseille’s sixth signing of the summer. He made 13 appearances only for Valencia in their 2016/17 La Liga campaign.
“I’m very proud and happy to be here. I hope to accomplish something big at Marseille,” Abdennour said during his unveiling on Wednesday.
“I know Adil Rami well from La Liga. He’s a warrior with a great mentality. I look forward to work beside him.”
Rami, 31, joined Marseille from Sevilla FC during the 2017 summer transfer window, after spending two seasons with the La Liga side.
“Olympique de Marseille has the best fans in France. No debate,” Abdennour added.
Abdennour featured for the Eagles of Carthage in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. He, however, wasn’t included in Tunisia’s squad for their crucial upcoming double-header against DR Congo in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers
