Egypt team doctor: Mohamed Salah not injured in loss to Uganda
Egyptian team doctor Mohamed Abou El-Ela revealed that Mohamed Salah was not injured during the Pharaohs’ match against Uganda, contrary to some reports.
Some reports came out stating that Salah was injured during Egypt’s 1-0 defeat to Uganda on Thursday in the third round of qualifying for the World Cup, but “there is no truth to that” according to the team doctor.
“There is no injury to Salah, he is completely ready for the match,” the team doctor said.
“Salah complained only after the end of the Uganda match, it was just a complaint no more and no less, and he is not injured”.
“The complaint of pain was due to the pitch of the Uganda game. There are many conversations about Salah’s injury, but there is no basis for it.”
It is worth noting that Salah was fouled harshly in the first few minutes warranting a yellow card for the Uganda’s Hassan Wasswa. After the foul, Salah struggled to make an impact on the rest of the game, even missing a point-blank header.
The team doctor continued, “Salah trained very naturally on Friday and Saturday. He’s ready for the game. All the players are ready to face Uganda.”
Ghana’s draw with Congo puts the Black Stars on two points, placing them third in Group E behind Uganda with seven points. Egypt are second with six points, while Congo are fourth with only one point.
Ghana will play Congo again in the fourth round on Tuesday, while Egypt will host their Ugandan counterpart on Tuesday at 20:00 at the Borg El-Arab Stadium.
