Bakary Gassama to officiate Egypt-Congo in World Cup qualification
Egypt took a further step towards their long-awaited World Cup qualification after their 1-0 win over Uganda at Borg El-Arab Stadium in Alexandria to recapture their first place in the group.
The Pharaohs are now on the top of Group E with nine points, two points ahead their followers Uganda. They will battle for a victory in the upcoming round against Congo hoping that at the same time Ghana manage to stop Uganda by beating them or at least getting a draw, which would officially mean that Hector Cuper’s men will go to Russia.
This will not be the first time for Gassama, 38, to officiate an official game at Borg El-Arab Stadium this year, as he was also the referee when Al Ahly were held to a goalless draw by Zambia’s Zanaco in their CAF Champions League group stage opener.
