Klopp expects Salah to be available for Sevilla clash
Salah was sent home and missed Liverpool’s open session on Tuesday afternoon as a precaution due to illness, but manager Jürgen Klopp expects the Egyptian to be fit for the game.
Liverpool are set to host Spanish side Sevilla at Anfield on Wednesday, September 12 at 8:45 CLT in the Champions League Group-stage.
“Mo, we sent him home tonight, that’s right. He was in; Mo said he can train, the doc said he could train. But then I asked the doc would be best for him and he said [it would be] if he doesn’t have to train because he has a little bit of a sore throat,” Klopp said on Tuesday.
“It should not be that serious, so we sent him home so he cannot spread the virus, if it is a virus.
“In this moment we expect him back tomorrow morning for normal training,” he added.
The 25-year-old has settled down so quickly at Liverpool and made an instant impact on the team since joining them in the 2017 summer transfer window as he produced impressive performances in his first six official matches he played with the Reds.
Meanwhile Klopp has confirmed that Philippe Coutinho is fit for the Sevilla game and is expected to play for the first time this season.
“He is fit, he is healthy. All other information about the line-up, I think, you have to wait until tomorrow,” Klopp said.
“He is here [with] no [fitness issue],” he concluded.
