Edin Džeko: I feel isolated, we miss Mohamed Salah upfront
Tuesday night, Roma were lucky to walk away from the Olimpico Stadium with a goalless draw against Atletico Madrid.
Goalkeeper Alisson pulled out a virtuoso performance, denying nine shots on target last night. On the other hand, Edin Džeko as well as the rest of Roma’s forwards were too shaky to force any threat on Atlético Madrid’s goalkeeper, Jan Oblak.
After last night’s poor performance, Džeko expressed his dismay with the fitness levels and the tactics of his side. The Bosnian also talked about how his team miss Mohamed Salah, who joined Liverpool this summer.
“I didn’t touch the ball many times tonight. Hopefully in the next few games I can touch the ball more often so I can score some goals.
“We miss Mohamed Salah and also Totti, while Radja Nainggolan played closer to me last season. Now they are all a little more distant from me than they were before, but we’re getting used to it, hopefully we will improve by time.”
It’s worth noting AS Roma began their UEFA Champions League campaign last night with a 0-0 home draw to Atlético Madrid. They’re in Group C with Chelsea, Atlético Madrid and FK Qarabag.
