Mahmoud Metwally scores as Ismaily draw with Arab Contractors
Mahmoud Metwally scored as Ismaily drew 1-1 with Arab Contractors in the second fixture of the Egyptian Premier League.
Both teams entered the game aiming to snatch their second win of the season, as they tried to maintain their positions and create dangerous scoring chances.
Mohamed Farouk had a chance to score from the penalty spot, but Mohamed Awad managed to deny him, before Ahmed Ali took the lead for the away side in the 37th minute, as he buried a cross from Mohamed El-Shamy past Awad.
The first-half finished 1-0 to the Contractors as both teams failed to score further goals, however, Mahmoud Metwally scored the equaliser for the hosts through a superb free-kick, making it 1-1 with less than 15 minutes remaining.
Substitute Mohamed Nagy Geddo nearly scored the winner in the 92 minute, but his header went over the woodwork, ending the game 1-1 draw.
Following the draw, Arab Contractors currently occupy the second place in the league table with four points, while Ismaily sit third with four points, only behind the Contractors on goal difference.
It is worth mentioning that Arab Contractors are set to face Ittihad of Alexandria on the 22nd of September, while Ismaily will face newly promoted side Assiouty Sport on the 23rd of September.
