striker has spoken out his thoughts about his side’s first leg match-up against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League semifinal.

Etoile succeeded in reaching the semifinal after knocking out Ahli Tripoli, while Al Ahly made the competition’s final quartet after a huge away victory against Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

“Al Ahly encounter will be a very tough one. Al Ahly is considered a tenacious and strong opponent. Even though we will try to finish things off here [in Sousse], it is going to be extremely difficult,” Chermiti told Assabah newspaper.

“We are required to be fully focused to get a somehow comfortable result and take advantage of playing at home. Al Ahly is a breakthrough in African football, they have shown their big ability to play away from home and it is what we have to be aware of. Qualification will be decided in Cairo.”

Chermiti was one of the heroes in Etoile’s Champions League triumph in 2007 when he scored for his side against Al Ahly in their 3-1 shock win in Cairo.

“I completely don’t think about the 2007 scenario. It is not important whether I score or not, what is important is that Etoile reach the final. We have to give the maximum of our effort,” he added.
