Egypt’s youth beat Oman 1-0 at International Friendly Tournament
Egypt have won the opening game at the Oman International Youth Friendly Tournament against the hosts thanks to a Mohamed Karem goal in the first half.
The three-team competition has begun in winning fashion for Egypt in Muscat leading into the potential decider against Syria.
Omani footballing authorities set up the competition as preparation for the U19 Asian Championships qualifying, where they will meet Bahrain, UAE, Nepal and Kyrgyzstan.
Egypt gave the hosts a good test defensively, and scored just before half time thanks to Mohamed Karem.
The young Pharaohs would hold strong defensively and win the match 1-0. Egypt’s senior team have not beaten Oman in either of their two games against them, so this result may provide some optimism for Egypt’s future.
The win means that if Egypt beat Syria in their next game this coming Saturday, they will win the tournament before Oman’s final game which is also against Syria.
