Cuper: We want to reach the second stage in the World Cup
After the Egyptian national team qualified to the World Cup on Sunday, Hector Cuper revealed that his goal in the World Cup is to reach the second stage.
“We want to reach the second stage in the World Cup. Everything is possible especially after what happened in the Camp Nou in 1999.” said Cuper to ‘Khas Ma’ Seif’ on ON Sport.
“In the 90th minute Bayern Munich were winning 1-0 against Manchester United who scored an equalizer and two minutes later scored the winner” said the Argentinian coach after the historic night against Congo.
During the 1999 Champions League final, Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjær famously scored late goals in in injury time to win the match and the treble for United that season.
“Ever since this happened, I learned that everything is possible until the referee blows the final whistle.” continued Cuper.
“This is what I thought about when Congo scored the goal, that we would react in the right way and this is exactly what happened” concluded the Egyptian national team manager.
