Emre Can: Liverpool need to be more effective on goal
German midfielder Emre Can talked to Sport Bild about Liverpool’s defensive woes that scoring more goals would make them less obvious and defended Jürgen Klopp.
In spite of Liverpool’s lethal attacking power, the Reds have managed to register a 13.5% shot-conversion rate in the Premier League. The team has the same percentage in their last seven fixtures, which they only won one, as they managed to score only eight goals from a total of 143 shots .
Can commented on Liverpool’s failure to strengthen their defenses over the summer saying: “It is in any case a fact that our defending was not good recently, and we conceded too many goals. I still believe that if we had scored those goals then we would have those matches and nobody would talk about our defense.
“The coach himself says that we did not play badly. We dominated our opponents in nearly all of the matches, and were the better side. Jürgen Klopp is convinced that we only need that bit of luck to get back to winning ways.”
The midfielder jumped to the defenses of Klopp assuring the players confidence in their manager saying, “Nobody at Liverpool questions the manager,” Can added. “Jürgen Klopp is a top, top manager.
“As a team, we all want to work with him. Everyone can see the steps we have made with him in the past two years. We play good football, follow his plan.”
