Eric Sikora: Hafez needs to reserve place in Egypt squad

RC Lens coach Eric Sikora states that Egypt’s left back, Karim Hafez, is able to reserve his spot as a starter with the Egyptian national team after qualifying to the 2018 World Cup.

Although Hafez was included in the 23-player squad, he has not established himself in the starting eleven since the 2017 African cup of nations in Gabon, where he only played one match.

On Hafez’ return,  Sikora stated “He came back tired Tuesday, he trained on Wednesday, there is still Thursday. We’ll see whether he plays against Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas or no, but when you come back after qualifying to the World Cup, it gives you wings, you want to play and you want to be called in the list of 23, but it is still far away.”

He added, ” This is good for Karim, now he would have to play with the selection. It is up to him to do even more here to show the coach, Hector Cuper, that he can puts pressure on the player who currently plays. ”

is set to face Bourg-en-Bresse Péronnas in the 11th round of Ligue 2. Lens currently lie in the 18th place with six points from ten matches.
