VIDEO: Salah Ashour scores as Tanta hold Zamalek to a 1-1 draw
Zamalek tried to take an early lead, however, unmarked Bassem Morsy headed the ball over the bar in the first minute of the game.
Tanta nearly opened the scoring in the third minute, but Mostafa Mohamed’s header just skimmed the post.
In the 22nd minute Tanta were awarded a penalty kick, that was saved by Egypt’s international goalkeeper Ahmed El Shennawy.
On the 30 minute mark, Bassem Morsy missed a glorious chance as his header hit the post.
Few minutes after Morsy’s missed chance, Zamalek players missed a series of chances few yards off the goal.
In the dying moments of the first half, Morsy missed an easy sitter. Both teams failed to score until the referee blew the half time whistle.
18 minutes after the break, Salah Ashour took the lead for the Whites from a close range.
In the 70th minute, Tanta were awarded another penalty kick, however, this time Mohamed Gaber sent the ball home from the spot, making it 1-1.
Two minutes before the full time whistle, El Shennawy pulled off an amazing save to deny Tanta their second goal of the night.
Following the draw, Zamalek currently occupy the fourth league spot with nine points, while Tanta sits ninth with six points.
The White Knights are set to face Smouha on the 20th of October,while, Tanta will face El-Geish on the 19th of the same month.
