Meteb, Ekramy excluded as Al Ahly announce squad for Al Ragaa
Al Ahly head coach Hossam El-Badry announced a 21-man squad that is set to face Al Ragaa in a postponed match from the second round of the Egyptian Premier League.
This clash will be the Red Devils’ final preparation for the second leg of the CAF Champions League semifinal against Tunisia’s Étoile Sportive du Sahel, which will take place at Borg El-Arab Stadium on Sunday, October 22.
The squad featured the return of Ali Maaloul and Ahmed Fathi who were awarded a break against Ittihad of Alexandria after their international break participation. The squad also included Ahmed El-Sheikh, Mido Gaber and Ahmed Yasser Rayan.
On the other hand, El-Badry excluded Emad Meteb for disciplinary reasons; whereas Amr Barakat, Hesham Mohamed, Bassem Ali, Islam Mohareb, Sabry Rahil, Ahmed Hamdy, Abdallah El-Said and Ahmed Beckham were excluded due to injury or technical reasons.
Goalkeeper Sherif Ekramy was also excluded at the last minute through injury.
Al Ahly squad:
Goalkeepers: Ahmed Adel Abdel-Moneim and Mohamed El-Shennawy
Defenders: Mohamed Naguib, Ramy Rabia, Saad Samir, Hussein El-Sayed, Mohamed Hany, Ali Maaloul, Ahmed Fathi.
Midfielders: Amr El-Sulaya, Hossam Ashour, Saleh Gomaa, Momen Zakaria, Akram Tawfik, Ahmed Hamoudi, Karim ‘Nedved’, Ahmed El-Sheikh, Mido Gaber.
Forwards: Walid Azarou, Junior Ajayi, Ahmed Yasser Rayan.
Al Ahly currently sit in the 13th place with four points, while still having three postponed matches, while Al Ragaa are currently in the last place on the table with no points from four games.
The game will take place at Al-Salam stadium in Suez this Monday at 19:00 CLT.
