Egypt to participate in CAF Africa Nations Championship – EFA
The Egyptian Football Association have taken a definitive decision to take part in the CAF African Nations Championship next year in Morocco.
Following Egypt’s historic qualification to the 2018 World Cup, the EFA officials were reportedly hesitant whether to agree participating in CHAN as they have not prepared a team to take on the competition.
Egypt had failed to qualify for the CHAN following their defeat to Morocco, but after CAF decided to hand Atlas Lions the hosting of the competition instead of Kenya the Pharaohs became eligible by default to participate.
The EFA have decided to send the U-20 to partake in the 2018 African Nations Championship, with their participation to be used as a sort of preparation for the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations.
Moreover, the EFA have yet to decide who will succeed Hany Ramzy as Egypt coach in the upcoming CHAN.
