Al Ahly captain Hossam Ashour ruled out for a month
Hossam Ashour will be sidelined for at least four weeks with a groin injury he sustained against Al Ragaa on Monday.
The 31-year-old has suffered a muscular injury during Al Ahly’s comfortable win over Al Ragaa in the Egyptian Premier League and was ruled out of his side’s crucial clash against Etoile du Sahel.
Ashour will miss at least five games for Al Ahly (Etoile du Sahel, Al Assiouty, Misr El-Maqassa, Al Nasr and El-Entag), and could miss Egypt’s fixtures against UAE and Ghana next month.
This is a major blow for Hossam El-Badry, who will look to replace Ashour with the likes of Abdallah El-Said, Hesham Mohamed, Rami Rabiaa or Akram Tawfik.
Al Ahly managed to record their second league win of the season with a 4-1 victory over Al Ragaa last Monday, but they will be up for a tough challenge at Borg El-Arab Stadium when they face Etoile du Sahel in the return-leg of the CAF Champions League semi-finals.
