France, Argentina, Uruguay request Egypt friendlies
After officially qualifying for the World Cup for the first time in 28 years with a win against Congo, the EFA soon announced a friendly against the United Arab Emirates on November 9 before the final World Cup qualifier against Ghana on November 12.
The United Arab Emirates did not qualify for the World Cup after finishing fourth in Group B of the Asia qualifiers behind Japan, Saudi Arabia, and Australia.
Mohamed Kamal, president of Presentation, the official sponsor of the national team, revealed that the upcoming eight months for Egypt will be the busiest in the last 27 years.
“We have received offers to play friendlies against Uruguay, Argentina, and France. We are in a different stage and are still thinking if the friendlies will be in Russia or in another European country,” Kamal revealed on a radio program.
Argentina have qualified for the World Cup after Messi’s heroics against Ecuador. Uruguay have also qualified with a 4-2 win over Bolivia. Meanwhile it was easier for France, who qualified after finishing top in their group with 23 points from 10 games.
Egypt’s last encounter with the Argentinian national team finished in a 2-0 friendly win for the South American team in 2008, while they last played Uruguay in 2006 and it ended with the same result for Uruguay. However France managed to record a huge win in their last game against the Pharaohs, battering them 5-0 in 2003.
