Michael Owen praises Mohamed Salah’s quick start with Liverpool
The Egypt international, who recently put in a strong performance against Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday night, has had an electrifying start to the season with both his club and country.
For Liverpool, Salah has scored eight goals and tallied two assists in 13 games so far. On the national team level, not only did he score Egypt’s only goal against Uganda last month, but he also secured Egypt’s qualification to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years with a brace against Congo earlier this month.
“It’s been a brilliant start,” Owen commented. “Liverpool are so well blessed.”
Owen also spoke on Salah’s counterpart on the opposite flank, Sadio Mané, and his speed.
“They have pace either side. I can’t believe how many chances he makes. He isn’t an unbelievable finisher but he gets so many chances every game, his numbers are totting up,” Owen pointed out.
“He is nearly in double figures already,” Owen added while speaking on BT sport.
“It’s brilliant for a wide man. He already looks a brilliant signing,” he concluded.
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma as their most expensive transfer last summer. The Reds will be looking to replicate Tuesday night’s performance on Sunday as they take on Tottenham Hotspur.
