Emad Meteb assures that his relationship with El-Badry is fine

Emad Meteb

made remarks over his confrontation with Hossam El-Badry in his post-match interview following the Red Devil’s qualification to the Champions League final.

The veteran striker had thrown away his training bib in a show of disagreement with his coach’s substitution decision. This was during Ahly’s league win over Al Ittihad.

El-Badry gave a response afterwards stating that he is the “decision maker.” Nevertheless, the 34-year old striker was included in the club’s squad to face Etoile Sahel and featured in Ahly’s CAF Champions League semi-final win. The striker was a second half substitute for Junior Ajayi.

After the match, Emad Meteb told BBC Sport that his relationship with El-Badry is okay. He said, “there is no crisis with Hossam El-Badry. I respect him very much and there is nothing that affects our relationship. There may be a difference of views on some things but our relationship has not been affected by any difference of views.”

He also made comments on getting playing time. “The circumstances and outcome of the match allowed me to play. I always want to play and have an impact with the team.”

Emad Meteb had congratulatory words for, hatrick hero, Azarou. He wished for him “to continue at same level.” Meteb, himself, has starred in his Ahly career; scoring 129 goals in 305 appearances.

But the striker has endured a woeful year and previously made comments on “erasing the year.” Mido has advised him to leave the club if he’s to get more playing time.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
