Koka’s team, Sporting Braga continued to enjoy good form in the Portuguese thanks to a comfortable home win over .

Koka was yet again included in Sporting Braga’s first eleven by coach Luis Castro. The Egyptian striker was looking to improve his three goals return in the Primeira Liga this season.

His side had a corner chance early in the match but it was GD Chaves who truly had a chance at goal in the opening exchanges. Brag goalie, Matheus was alert to save a shot at his near post.

The hosts reacted by launching attacks of their own and came close in the 30th minute, when Koka and Vukcevic were involved in a scoring opportunity. Two minutes later, another Sporting Braga player, Ricardo Horta sent a volley-shot wide of goal.

The second half started with the home team looking to score from a corner again. But Jefferson could not find, his teammate, .

Eventually, Sporting Braga’s persistence was rewarded with a goal when, Brazilian, Brunno Vianna headed home a cross from Jefferson. This was in the 58th minute. Koka’s hopes of improving his scoring record, by adding a second, were postponed when he had to come off for Paulinho in the 67th minute.

It was Jefferson who got the chance to score a second in the 75th minute but, Chaves goalkeeper; Antonio Filipe saved his shot from inside the penalty area.

It did not matter in the end, though, as Braga were able to secure their 1-0 lead. The result moved the side back to fourth, on 21 points from 10 matches. Sporting Braga next play Ludogorest in the Europa League.

I have dedicated part of my time in this bad world to following African football. From CECAFA to WAFU, COSAFA to UNAF & even the forgotten UNIFFAC.
