LIVE: Wydad Casablanca vs Al Ahly – CAF Champions League final


KingFut covers the live action as Morocco’s host Cairo giants in the second leg of the 2017 CAF Champions League final.

The Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by the Moroccan side in the first leg of the 2017 CAF Champions League final at Borg El-Arab Stadium. Momen Zakaria opened the scoring for the hosts in the second minute before Achraf Bencharki levelled for Wydad around the quarter-hour mark.

A victory or a 2-2 draw would secure Al Ahly their ninth title, while a goalless draw would earn Wydad their second in history.

5′: Chance for Al Ahly as Azaro latches onto a dangerous cross from Momen, but his effort was diverted into a corner.


11′: Corner-kick for Al Ahly. Abdallah El-Said’s cross cleared by El-Haddad.


12′: Golden chance for Azaro to give Al Ahly the lead but the Moroccan striker misses from point-blank.

15’: Another corner-kick to Al Ahly, El-Said takes but the defender clears before the referee calls for a foul inside the box for Wydad.


19’: Dangerous low cross on the right from Ben Charqy but fails to find a teammate. First chance for Wydad.


21′: Al Ahly’s Ajayi goes into the referee’s book for a foul.


25′: Al Ahly with the majority of possession as they look the more dangerous side so far.


28′: Abdallah El-Said’s free kick leads to a third Ahly corner, which is headed away by Wydad.


30′: Best chance of the game falls to Wydad as Ekramy watches the ball fly past him and off his crossbar!

El-Haddad squared the ball to El-Khadrouf inside the box; the latter’s shot hits El-Sayed’s back then the bar!

34′: Zakaria on the end of a through ball from El-Sulaya sees himself 1 on 1 with the Wydad keeper but his shot is saved! Wydad immediately answers with a dangerous counterattack that goes just past Ekramy’s post.

40’: Ahmed Fathi and Youssef Rabeh go into the referee’s book after an altercation. The ensuing Ahly free kick goes untouched and out for a goal kick.


43’: Hussein El-Sayed is on the ground receiving treatment.

46′: The second half kicks off with a chance for Wydad, but it goes into the side netting!


48′: The match was paused as flares kicked off and made the pitch difficult to see. Play has now resumed.


56′: Cagey start to the second half as both sides look for the opening goal of the match.


58′: El-Haddadi threatening again on a counterattack, 1 on 1 with Rabia but the Egyptian defender ushers the ball out for a Wydad corner kick. Ekramy collects the cross and is fouled afterwards.


60′: Dangerous delivery from an Ahly corner is dealt with by Rabeh. The following Ahly corner is not nearly as dangerous as Ahly makes their first change.

Walid Azarou makes way for Ahmed Hamoudi.


65’: Hamoudi sends in a low drive from 20 yards out, Laaroubi calmly saves.


67’: Gassama books Momen Zakaria for simulation after the winger goes down in the box.


70′: GOAL for Wydad. Ben Charqi beats El-Sulaya down the right hand side and his deflected cross is headed in by Walid El-Karti. 1-0 to Wydad, 2-1 on aggregate.

The initial to Ben Charqi does have questions about it, as it seems the winger was in an offside position.

72′: Ahmed Fathi makes way for legendary Ahly striker Emad Meteb.


73′: Good chance for Al Ahly but Rami Rabia’s header is just wide!


75′: El-Sulaya’s long distance attempt is well wide of the goal.


76′: Walid Soliman comes on for Hussein El-Sayed.


77′: El-Sulaya picks up a yellow card after a poor challenge on Ismail El-Haddad.


80′: Great chance for Wydad to make it 2-0 but Ekramy comes up with a big save to keep Ahly in it.

Hamoudi responds with a dangerous shot that bounces around in the box but the keeper eventually collects.


82′: Hamoudi cuts back to Ajayi in the box but the shot is blocked and ruled offside. It appears Hamoudi was not offside.


83′: Yellow card for Khaddrouf for time wasting, as he stands over the ball not letting Ahly take their free kick.


86′: El Hachimi comes on for Khaddrouf.


87′: Zakaria is slipped in behind but his chance hits the side netting.


90′: Another big chance for Wydad but it’s out for a corner. Ahly push on for the equalizer in 3 minutes of added time.


92′: Outtara comes on for Man of the Match El-Haddad.


Full Time: Wydad Casablanca 1 – 0 Al Ahly, 2-1 on aggregate.
