Egyptian-American defender played 120 minutes as Louisville City beat 4-3 on penalties the Eastern Conference finals.

Morad, the record appearance maker for Louisville City, recently scored a brace in the first round in the 4-0 rout of Bethlehem Steel. He also played an integral part in the Kentucky based club’s 1-0 win over the Rochester Rhinos in the Eastern Conference semifinals last week.

The rematch from last year’s Eastern Conference finals began with chances for both sides, but both goalkeepers and defence kept their clean sheets. In the 12th minute, last week’s hero Ownby scored Louisville’s first goal into the left corner from Spencer’s assist.

Morad won a free kick two minutes before halftime in the defensive half, as Louisville entered halftime with the lead.

In an exact replay of last year’s final, New York Red Bulls II equalised in the second half through Flemmings. Through extra time, no goals were scored and the match went to penalties like last year.

However, Louisville won the Eastern Conference Title for their first time after Ranjitsingh saved two Red Bull penalties. They will go on to face Swope Park Rangers who won the Western Conference title after 11 rounds of penalty shoot-outs.

The final will be played on November 13 in Kentucky.
