Al Ahly opt to not file complaint against Bakary Gassama
Al Ahly fell short to a 1-0 defeat against Wydad Casabalanca in Morocco to lose 2-1 on aggregate and fail to seal the ninth Champions League trophy in the club’s history.
After a game full of debatable calls from Gassama, Al Ahly coach Hossam El-Badry overtly blamed the Gambian referee for playing a major role in affecting the final result and routing the game towards the Moroccan side.
While the Red Devils chairman Mahmoud Taher had stated the will complain against Gassama, the club conclusively decided to not proceed with their objection.
“We are not going to file a complaint against Gassama. We know that our complaint will be fruitless,” Al Ahly Executive Director Sherine Shams told DMC Sports channel.
“CAF officials are totally familiar with the mistakes that happened and which have quite affected the results in some competitions.”
