Ahmed Hegazi to miss Ghana qualifier for personal reasons
Egypt international defender Ahmed Hegazi will miss the Pharaohs World Cup qualifier against Ghana on Sunday due to family reasons.
The Pharaohs will face Ghana on Sunday, November 12 at Cape Coast Stadium. Egypt have already booked their place in the World Cup after collecting 12 points from five games, while Ghana sit third with only six points.
The EFA have announced that Hegazi has left Egypt’s training camp for family reasons; therefore will not be available for selection against the Black Stars on Sunday.
Ahmed Hegazi is the third player to miss Ghana’s encounter after Mohamed Salah, who Hector Cuper dropped from the squad to avoid fatigue, and Mohamed Abdel-Shafy, who has been withdrawn from the squad due to injury.
The injuries have left Saad Samir, Ali Gabr and Rami Rabia as Cuper’s only defensive choices, with the last two being more likely to start.
The towering defender has been one of West Brom’s key players this season, featuring 12 times for the Baggies and scoring once against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
