Syria goalkeeper confirms negotiations with Egypt’s top two
Syria goalkeeper Ibrahim Alma confirmed that there are currently negotiations between him and Cairo giants Al Ahly and Zamalek as both clubs seek to acquire his services.
Ibrahim Alma, who is Syria’s starting goalkeeper, is currently playing for Al Ittihad Aleppo which he joined from Al Wahda Damascus in 2016.
“Yes, there are currently negotiations with Al Ahly and Zamalek,” the goalkeeper told Syria Pro Sport. “However, negotiations are not official yet. Everything will be clear as the new seasons starts.”
Even though reports have linked Alma with both Egyptians club, the Egyptian Football Association ‘EFA’ does not allow Egyptian clubs to play with a non-Egyptian goalkeeper, even though a rule was passed earlier to treat Palastinain and Syrian players as Egyptians.
“I’m committing to my current contract with my team but there are terms in the contract that allow me to leave,” Alma concluded pointing out that there are ways allowing him to move to one of the clubs.
