The 44-year-old Egyptian goalkeeper as well as the whole world were full of support of the legend as he played his last official game for Italy.

The Egyptian goalkeeper tweeted: “I can't find the right words…the only thing I can do is to try to compensate your spot. Every goalkeeper in the World Cup will be playing for you, legend.”

The tweet came after Italy failed to qualify for the finals of the World Cup for the first time in 60 years. The Azzuri lost in the first leg away from home in Sweden by one goal. They couldn't score in the second leg and drew 0-0 as Sweden booked their ticket to the World Cup.

El-Hadary is set to become the oldest player to ever appear in the prestigious tournament after Egypt secured their qualification to the World Cup for the first time in 28 years. The Pharaohs' last World Cup appearance was in 1990, which was hosted by Italy.
