likewise reached the USL Cup final after winning the Western Conference title last week with a 7-6 penalty win over OKC Energy FC. In their path to the Western title, they also beat Drogba’s Phoenix Rising 4-2 on penalties and Sacramento Republic 1-0.

Louisville thought they had taken the lead early in the first half, but the goal was correctly disallowed for offside. In the 36th minute, Luke Spencer’s shot was saved by Swope goalkeeper Zendejas.

In the second half, both sides came out with much more attacked mindset. Swope had the first chance in the 49th minute when Oliveira’s shot was blocked. Both sides created many chances, with Swope coming close again in the 74th minute through Moloto.

Two minutes before full time, Williams’ cross was headed in by Cameron Lancaster to give Louisville the lead.

The USL title is Louisville City FC’s first since the move to Kentucky after being Conference finalists in 2015 and 2016. The 2018 season is expected to start late March of next year.
