Al Ahly director of football has stated that winning against Premier League leaders Ismaily was an vital step for the team.

Al Ahly beat Ismaily in a postponed game from the fourth round of the Egyptian Premier League with two goals came in the second half through Amr El-Sulaya and Abdallah El-Said to end the Yellows unbeaten run.

“We thank God on the win and the result. It was a tough game, we were facing the league leaders who won all their matches and have the ability to come back to games at any moment,” Abdelhafiz told ON Sport.

“Ismaily offended from my comments on referees before the game? I haven’t said anything, I just wished that game goes well on the technical and officiating level.”

“Hesham Mohamed received a heavy knock in his ankle, he continued the game but afterwards we noticed a swelling. He will undergo tests and we hope it is nothing serious. Sherif Ekramy is training well but all decisions are up to the manager. He might feature from the start in next game, he might not feature at all. It is all up to the coach’s point of view.”
